On this page, you’ll find a number of previous reels highlighting work from the core Orbital team, while previously working under the Artifex Studios brand.

Founded by Adam Stern in 1997, Artifex provided VFX services in Vancouver through 2022. During Covid, Adam made the decision to close Artifex’s physical location and wind down operations, while retaining the core VFX team - and moving forward with a different brand and philosophy under the new Orbital Mechanics banner.

Our team has provided VFX for over 100 different projects, and has won or received nominations for a number of awards over the years, including our Emmy nomination for ALMOST HUMAN, and our Canadian Screen Award win for CONTINUUM.

Additionally, we’ve received CSA nominations for our own feature film LEVELS, VFX work on TRAVELERS, and additional nominations for CONTINUUM, as well as multiple LEO Award wins and nominations.

The Orbital VFX team has recently completed work on HOUSE OF DAVID, CHUCKY, RESIDENT ALIEN, and ANIMAL CONTROL. We are currently in production on a number of exciting new projects.
